The Area

The village of Newcastle on Clun has a very friendly pub, which serves great beers and good pub food, with an excellent Sunday roast lunch (advisable to book). In the Village of Clun, a couple of miles away, there are several pubs, butchers, a greengrocer, an ironmonger, newsagents and various teashops.

There is a tennis court at the community hall for hire.

Ludlow is approximately 20 –30 minutes away: a lovely old market town which is now becoming known for its many fine restaurants, is a pleasant town to visit, with its castle and historical buildings and the river. It has a nice swimming pool with water slide on the northern side of the town.

Shrewsbury is 45 minutes journey, a busy town incorporating the old and new with many delightful shops and many places to visit. It also has a pleasure complex and the Shrewsbury Quest; Brother Cadfaels domain can occupy an afternoon.

Newtown is a 20 minutes drive up and over the hills into Wales , a lovely drive with some spectacular views across Wales as you descend towards Kerry. There is Quad Biking centre here and a golf course.

Welshpool in Powys is a small town and adjacent to it is Powys Castle, National Trust property well worth a visit. Approximately 30 minutes drive,

Going towards Shrewsbury at Minsterley there are shooting ranges, a great day or half day entertainment.

Craven Arms is a small market town lying just outside is an old moated manor house that hosts medieval activities throughout the year - Stokesay Castle.
